Sen. Alan Nunnelee, R-Tupelo, wants to make nonpayment of child support a felony that is punishable with up to a $10,000 fine and two years in jail. “We’re under federal sanctions and stand to lose a good bit of federal money”, because of the state’s poor collection rate for child support, he said.
