Here we have PBS and Mary Kay telling me that what has been happening for over 1 year is not really happening and that what I’m going thru, being alienated from my child and having my wonderful relationship with him [b4 all this] practically destroyed for no justifiable cause or reason, is all just a fucking pipe-dream.

There is a “documentary” which is set to be aired on PBS Stations across the nation on the 20th of October.

In this documentary they refer to PAS as “a controversial theory called ‘Parental Alienation Syndrome’ (PAS) which has been used as a courtroom tactic to silence abused children and their mothers. This so-called syndrome is not based on systematic research, is not recognized by mental health professionals, is not viewed as a psychiatric diagnosis, and has been rejected by valid scientists and ethical practitioners. Nevertheless, PAS continues to be routinely used in courts across the country, resulting in the removal of children from loving, safe, and fit mothers to fathers who batter the mother, abuse the child, and/or have a substance abuse or criminal history.”

While it seems relatively obvious that this “documentary” was put together by a women’s [feminist] activist group that views PAS as strictly a gender issue, it is alarming to me that PBS intends to air this show.

I received a copy of an email from Ken Lawrence, the Director of Programming for PBS of Houston, stating that “unless a credible challenge is brought to light discrediting their work on this project we will follow through with our broadcast”.
