GIMP & Photoshop CS2 together are a fucking great combination.

Sure wish my plugins from Photoshop 7 still worked though [i had a ton of cool ones]……speaking of which, anyone know where I might get any FREE plugins for CS2?

    Cheers for that.

Deviantart has a pretty good selection..

Most of the brushes I had for 7 converted over to CS 2

    Hmmmm…

    What about filters?

How’d you go about ‘converting’ them?

Im curious as to what GIMP brings to the table that Photoshop does not (apart from being free)? Are there any particular features that have struck you as being excellent?

mainly interface, configuration, workability and portability issues……..

are you asking a question about a specific task?

Not really, I took a look at GIMP around three years ago when the guys I worked for then were switching to open source for everything they used in their business-at the time, apart from the obvious benefits of being open source, I couldn’t see anything that it had over photoshop and I was wondering if it had changed in such a way that it offered anything that wasnt just cosmetic (like interfaces) that Photoshop doesnt. For me, having been using Photoshop since it came on floppy discs I am heavily invested in it-but if any software does something awfully clever Photoshop doesnt Im still interested ;)

Well, I’ll have to hanker down and do a 1-to-1 analysis and report back……should be an interesting comparison.
