The intellectual love towards g.o.d. is the very love of g.o.d. with which g.o.d. loves himself, not in so far as he is infinite, but in so far as he can be expressed through the essence of the human mind considered under the species of eternity, that is, intellectual love towards g.o.d. is part of the infinite love with which g.o.d. loves himself….

Hence it follows that g.o.d., in so far as he loves himself, loves man, and consequently that the love of g.o.d. for ‘man’ and the mind’s intellectual love towards g.o.d. is one and the same thing.
