“The medicalization of psychedelics is resisted by the religious and capitalist right [republican] wing because no one is fooling anyone that it is the first step toward a reintegration of psychedelics into society that will inevitably lead to the downfall of hierarchical social and economic structures that require masses of bleating sheep to willfully consent to their own exploitation and oppression.”

This phrase alone has been the heart of a much heated debate revolving around the personal defense of egos on both sides of the coin, and the scrutinization of the literature of communication… interesting enough given that it is by freedom, not only of choice, but also of exploration, that we all participate in these conversations, all of us venturing the same new horizons.

Meanwhile, the true heart of the phrase remains frigid. As stated, the general reasoning behind the resistance of psychedelics by the ruling bodies within society is fear, fear of a decline in control, mainly economic. I think this is a fairly obvious assumption… the increase in creativity and awareness produced by psychedelics does promote curiosity, with a trailing tendency towards structural change.

However, the nucleus of the topic still remains. The growth in evolution of the human consciousness is inevitable, with or without the aid of psychedelics…although as pointed out by even minimal research into the subject, they have played a major role in giving birth to every single one of us, and our levels of awareness. This is going to “lead to the downfall of hierarchical social and economic structures”, and the “masses of bleating sheep” are going to feel the repercussions. Whether any of us favors it or not, we are those “bleating sheep”. I understand this is not a social economics class, but being the pioneers in direction of this creative evolution of the human psyche… given that our levels of awareness are that of not only self realization….but also a global realization of this evolution, I believe we have a responsibility to find the foresight necessary to prepare. I have only begun to explore the possible problems, solutions, and related outcomes of this insight, and am extremely curious about other opinions and responses on the subject.

FINALLY FOUND THE NECESSARY PAPERWORK, no thanks to the dilapidated ‘advice’ of the staff attorneys over at the Center for Equal Justice in South Carolina = http://www.sccej.org/.

good ole InterWeb navigation certainly helps when attempting to locate all the legal forms involved in an appeal…..but considering that I now have far less than the 30 days ‘allotted’ [and far further beyond the 10 days 'allotted' for a Motion to Alter or Amend a Judgment] for an appeal, in the SC Court of Appeals, I’m unsure of what and how exactly to file this appeal in response to the draconian judgment handed down by that Family Court twit, Judge JUG-Head……especially if you were to look at all the shit I have to accomplish in order to properly file an appeal……..a near impossible task to achieve in less than 30 days, particularly if you are a self-represented litigant like myself…..but the alternative choice begins w/ the outrageous sum of $600 going to a greedy court-reporter who transcribes the full court transcript [of the 4-hour custody hearing held on 11-17-05], who then sends me the transcript to correctly file with the appellate court.

[How's that for a long run-on?]

BUT, this, my friends, is only the beginning.

…………don’t believe me?

………take a long, hard, serious look over here and tell me the whole U.S. judicial system isn’t all about money [from the supreme court jokers on down to the legal filth they call 'attorneys']:

Unanimocracy

   Posted by: AUDIOMIND   in Random

I’ve come up with a really good solution for a replacement to our current governmental scheme.

I call it a Unanimocracy.

There are three rules in Audiomind’s Unanimocracy:

1. No law can exist without an unanimous vote of the populace — direct democracy in ultimate form.
2. All laws sunset after 6 years.
3. No future laws can change any of the 3 basic rules.

The Unanimocracy will likely produce 7 different levels of government: Federal, Regional, State, County, Village, Community, Household.

If 300,000,000 voters can’t pass a law unanimously at the Federal level (let’s say minimum wage), then they can try at the Regional level (3-4 states maybe). If those 40,000,000 can’t pass a minimum wage law, they can try it at the State level. If those 10,000,000 can’t pass the law unanimously, they can try it at the County level, and so on and so on.

Some laws may only exist at the Household level. Some might be only at the County level — and counties will compete for similar-believing citizens.

Most laws will never pass at the Federal level. You might have “No murder” laws at the Federal level, but you sure won’t have “No using drugs” or “No prostituting” laws at even the State level. If a law DOES pass, in 6 years it fails and must be re-passed by the new voting bloc.

This is will hereby forever be known as Audiomind’s Unanimocracy.

Who Was it that Said that Fear is the Mind-Killer?

   Posted by: AUDIOMIND   in Random

What exactly IS fear?

…..And why is it such a problem?

…..And what can be done to overcome it?

Well, let’s start with what fear is, then we’ll move on to an easy technique to get past it.

I once heard a great definition of FEAR:

False.Evidence.Appearing.Real.

In other words, the things that you feel fear about are usually not real, they’re usually just “false evidence”.

You also might think back about the last 10 things you felt fear around.
Now, ask yourself…Did any of those things come true?

In most of the cases, you’ll find that the fear did NOT come true.

I heard once that something like 98% of the things that people fear and worry about never come true.

I’ve found this to be true in my own life as well.

Fear is an emotion, an emotional state. It’s an amazing and wonderful emotion… because it can help save your life in certain situations, but troublesome if it paralyzes you.

A hundred thousand years ago, when we were running around in the desert, we needed powerful, motivating emotions like FEAR to save our lives.

When you feel fear (especially if it’s a response to real physical danger) you’ll notice that some AMAZING things happen. Your eyes open up wider so you can see better, your environmental awareness increases tenfold, adrenaline pumps into your body, your heart beats fast to deliver blood to your muscles, and all kinds of other wondrous processes are triggered.

The PROBLEM is when we experience fear at times when there IS NO real physical danger.

We humans are amazing[*cough*]. We can just IMAGINE things and feel fear in response to the mental images.

And I’m sure you know exactly what the problem is with this… it can IMMOBILIZE you at critical times.

So what’s the problem?

Usually, it’s fear.

So, what’s the solution?

Well, there is one sure way to overcome your fear, and it’s not as cliche as you might think.

One way is to do the thing you fear. If you do the thing that you fear, and see that nothing bad will happen, then you eventually overcome it and become programmed not to feel fear anymore.

FEAR IS THE MIND-KILLER.

Letter to ASCAP about Copyright Madness

   Posted by: AUDIOMIND   in Random

ASCAP – New York
One Lincoln Plaza
New York, NY 10023
licensing@ascap.com

Dear ASCAP,

The copyrighted status of “Happy Birthday To You” and the law related to the public performance of copyrighted works have both recently been brought to my attention. I would therefore like to request permission in advance to sing “Happy Birthday” to my son at CHUCK-E-CHEESE’s in Charlotte, NC, on March 14, 2006 at approximately 4:20pm.

My son will be turning 6 on this day and we will probably be ordering a cake and pizza to celebrate his life. The rest of the party will include the Warblettes, Jasper T. Jowls, Pasqually, Crusty the Cat, my friends Dumb & Dumber, their spouses I’m w/ Stupid & Stupider. Most of us will be singing while Chuck Cheez will merely mouth the words and smile. We expect there to be approximately 50 disinterested witnesses.

I realize this is short notice but we only recently settled the details. If there is a charge for the privilege of singing in this instance, please let me know. And, if there is, please specify whether or not the cost can be reduced by moving to another location.

I look forward to your prompt reply.

Sincerely,

AUDIOMIND

INTEREST IN JOB CONTENT
(Those tasks you want to perform)

Preferences for AUDIOMIND fully support being perceptually, subconsciously, and consciously aware of fantasy, symbols, symbolic relationships, abstract ideas, options, and choice of options as they relate to creative or innovative activities. Perception triggers ideas in AUDIOMIND’s mind, a process that just happens – a process often called intuition. It is not a conscious effort to logically “come up with” creative ideas; instead, the process is best identified with the statement that “a thought struck me.” A quote by Carl Jung probably makes complete sense to AUDIOMIND: “Art is innate in the artist, like an instinct that seizes and makes a tool out of the human being. The thing in the final analysis that wills something in him is not he, the personal man, but the aim of the art.”

TEMPERAMENT FOR THE JOB
(How you prefer to perform tasks)

Most likely, AUDIOMIND has a logical mind which “makes sense” of what is perceived regarding the big picture and pieces of the picture within the context of that big picture. It is evaluation or assessment after perception, not the process of perception itself. Emphasis is on patterns, linkage, and relationships. Intuition may be involved in conjunction with this evaluation/assessment process.

APTITUDE FOR THE JOB
(Expression of performing tasks)

Philosophical, cultural, scientific, literary, managerial, and/or computational work, more than likely, represent very important types of mental activities for AUDIOMIND. Being capable in those activities, AUDIOMIND’s mind is naturally receptive to consider abstract ideas, theory, concepts, inquiry, exploration, analysis, logic, systems, and procedures. Factors in this aptitude section, plus the data and reasoning sections show the degree of motivation and talent AUDIOMIND has for each of those mental activities. High rating for this trait indicates an intellectual orientation that is functional in, or has potential for, academic, scientific, research, literary, executive, or consulting activities.

PEOPLE
(How you relate to people)

AUDIOMIND feels both privilege and responsibility to use communication (including persuasion) to voluntarily provide beneficial information to others. This includes strongly motivated benevolent and literary traits. Self-satisfaction comes almost exclusively from the subjective realization that the information, voluntarily given, has been helpful to other persons. AUDIOMIND is further motivated to learn and understand the other person(s) needs wishes and listening preferences. Non-persuasive service communication can become persuasive and persistent when expressed in the interest of someone needing AUDIOMIND to stand up for them.

THINGS
(How you relate to things)

AUDIOMIND’s motivations support ability to running/managing fixed machine operation, and the responsibility for machine performance, condition, output, and quality. (NOTE: This necessitates constant awareness of what is happening with the machine itself, with the processes being done by the machine, with materials going into the machine, quality of materials coming from the machine, and how and when to make adjustments and provide maintenance). A number of functions are involved and require a variety of talents that AUDIOMIND either has or is motivated to learn, the most important being machine savvy, alert monitoring of operations, and coping with routine.

DATA
(How you relate to data)

Compiling means more than simply gathering large volumes of data sheets and stuffing them in a filing cabinet. It means that AUDIOMIND is motivated to find, identify, classify, store, remember, and retrieve what is important or what might be important for future use. (NOTE: This is crucial for researchers, technical writers, lawyers, academic teachers, consultants, systems engineers, and programmers). This trait indicates a subconscious preference we could refer to as a “packrat” orientation, i.e., if it glitters; stuff it in the nest along with everything else because it might be useful sometime. Other traits will indicate how motivated the individual is to be thorough, practical, and efficient within this trait.

REASONING
(How you relate to reasoning)

AUDIOMIND is naturally motivated to use and apply rational formulas, rules, systems, and/or procedures to deal with concrete variables where only limited instructions or guidelines exist. Emphasis here is on solving operational or administrative PROBLEMS that develop in familiar areas. This is commonly known as ‘troubleshooting’ and AUDIOMIND has a natural preference for the mental procedure of doing so. Motivation is derived from a goal of getting the “train back on the track”. Although silly, AUDIOMIND probably sees the point clearly illustrated in a poem where a foreman reports a train wreck: “Off again. On again. Gone Again. Finnegan.” (NOTE: This trait requires onsite familiarity with operations, a sense or suspicion of where things might or could break down, and savvy about ways to fix the problem).

MATHEMATICAL CAPACITY
(How you relate to the applied usage of math)

AUDIOMIND is motivated to work with a wide variety of theoretical math concepts; make original application of those concepts; apply knowledge of advanced mathematical or statistical techniques to new areas of challenge, interest, or opportunity. Motivation is derived from conceptual, analytical, curious, and exploratory thinking. Research and theoretical logic probably appeal greatly to AUDIOMIND’s mind.

LANGUAGE CAPACITY
(How you relate to the usage of language)

AUDIOMIND is motivated to describe, explain, teach, illustrate, and interpret. This is a journalistic trait dedicated to inform people. Social, leadership, influential, technical, service, and functional traits are involved as well. Therefore, it is necessary to review all worker traits to more closely identify AUDIOMIND’s preferences relative to this trait.

INTP – Introvert, Intuitive, Thinking, Perceiving
[INTPs Represent 3-4% of the US population]

POTENTIAL STRENGHTS

INTPs are great strategic thinkers and creative problem solvers. They are especially interested in mastering and perfecting theoretical or complex issues. Quiet, serious and thoughtful, INTPs are usually intellectual and complicated people who appear quite dispassionate and reserved. However, they can become excited and persuasive about their ideas once they are ready to share them. INTPs are logical and analytical people, with a strong need to make sense of things.

Strongly independent, INTPs are driven to increase their personal mastery of subjects and are drawn to people of power and expertise. They tend to be open minded, intrigued with anything imaginative and many enjoy risk taking. They prefer to look beyond what is known or accepted at the present time and eagerly consider more creative yet reasonable approaches to problems or ways of perfecting systems.

POTENTIAL WEAKNESSES

Rules so completely by logic, INTPs can sometimes neglect to consider the more human side of issues. They can be critical and argumentative and may dismiss the feelings of others unless they understand them and can see that they make sense. INTPs are sometimes so single-minded and internally focused that they may not be fully aware of the world outside themselves.

Because INTPs use logic to understand their world, they sometimes don’t pay enough attention to the emotional part of their lives and may have difficulty reaching out to friends when in need. They set such incredibly high standards for themselves and their projects, they can become discouraged when they do not reach or exceed them. They tend to ignore the more practical phases of their work and may let the follow through and details fall through the cracks.

As an INTP, I am good at…..

* Using creativity and insight to understand issues in depth.
* Logical analysis of complex problems.
* Working alone with great focus and concentration.
* Learning new skills and technology with ease and competence.
* Engaging in long range and strategic thinking.

I need to watch my tendency to…..

* Be impatient with and critical of people less competent than I.
* Develop such complicated arguments or ideas that no one else understands them.
* Consider only the possible implications, rather than the realistic applications of my ideas.
* Refuse to deal with repetitious or mundane projects.
* Intimidate others with my independent and confident style.

Breaking Bad Habits and Forming Effective Ones

   Posted by: AUDIOMIND   in Random

Habits we have formed over the years can be time wasting, unhealthy, obnoxious, boring or outright dangerous. They can limit our effectiveness, stunt our personal growth, and dissipate our energy. They can cut years from our lives. Antagonize friends. Alienate loved ones.

Or they can be constructive, positive, healthy, and desirable. They can save time. Relieve tension. Increase our effectiveness.

It all depends on the habit. And I define a habit as something we do automatically with little, if any, forethought. Something devoid of conscious choice. It could be smoking, drinking, excessive eating, chewing gum, twisting paperclips as we listen, saying “you know” every few words, drinking coffee every half hour.

Or it could be organizing your clothes before you go to bed, checking the doors to see if they’re locked, jogging before breakfast, eating apples for lunch, reviewing personal goals every morning, smiling at everyone you meet, reading in bed every night, showering before breakfast.

Whether it’s a good habit or a bad habit depends on its effects on your life. If it helps you to achieve your goals. Brings you happiness, health, and prosperity. Adds meaning to your life. Makes you more effective. Then it’s probably a good habit. But if all it does is impede your effectiveness, waste your time, alienate your family and friends or decrease your life expectancy, it’s very likely a bad habit.

Before you attempt to break any bad habits, you must be convinced that you want to. The benefits must be obvious. The motivators must be there. Otherwise you will likely fail in your efforts.

It’s always rewarding to feel that you are in control of your own life. That might be motivation enough. If so, start breaking some of those patterns of living that sap you of any feeling of excitement and spontaneity. Stop spending every Thanksgiving Day at Mother’s. Don’t go away with the same couple every Labor Day weekend. Don’t order pizza every Tuesday night. Don’t return to the same Florida resort every year. Stop eating in the same restaurants all the time. Make a conscious choice each time. Don’t be bound by the force of habit.

Some specific habits, such as smoking, drinking, overeating, may be more difficult to break. Greater motivation is required to initiate and maintain the greater effort that is necessary. Get a handle on the harmful effects of the habit. If you’re convinced that smoking will reduce your life expectancy by 16.4 years or that lack of exercise will double the risk of a heart attack, you may have the kind of incentive you need.

Once you feel motivated to proceed, be sure to set realistic goals. Losing 20 lbs. in one week, for instance, is not a realistic goal. a long-term goal, say 3 to 6 months. Break it down into monthly and weekly goals. Even daily goals are advisable for some habits. Goals produce deadlines. Deadlines produce a certain amount of stress. But they also produce results. That’s why we’re so effective at work.

Now, practice self-discipline. Train yourself to accomplish those daily and weekly goals you set for yourself. Don’t let yourself slip once. The first slip spells disaster. For it becomes progressively easier to slip the second time, and the third — until you’re back in your old ways again. If your daily objective is to jog for 20 minutes every morning, then jog for 20 minutes every morning. Regardless of whether it’s cold and rainy or whether you don’t feel that great. Always keep the long-term rewards in mind. Don’t succumb to the immediate rewards — such as the comfort of a warm bed. In time you will have formed a habit – a good habit. And good habits are as hard to break as bad ones.

The same self-discipline is needed in breaking a habit. If you want to stop smoking or drinking, don’t take that first cigarette or first drink. If you do, it’s too easy to take the second and third.

As an aid to self-discipline, declare your intentions to family and friends. Once you commit yourself publicly, it will be more difficult — and embarrassing — to back out. Enlist a partner if possible. Two or more people trying to break or form the same habit provides reinforcement for each other. And there’ll be a greater chance of making it fun. It’s so much easier to form a new habit if it’s enjoyable. Be prepared to reward yourself if you achieve your goal. That delayed vacation. New wardrobe. Whatever is meaningful to you.

And remember, there’s no such thing as “can’t”. If you want to do something badly enough, you can do it. If you don’t believe me, how do you think you would react if someone put a gun to your head and threatened to blow your brains out unless you kicked the habit. You’d probably kick it.

And some habits are as deadly as a gun at your head.
